Dave Yakley ’95

Dave YakleyDave Yakley ’95 served as chair of the 2015 University and College Designers Association (UCDA) Conference held in Orlando in October. He was responsible for arranging speakers for six general sessions and 24 breakout sessions as well as pre-conference activities and workshops. Nearly 300 people were in attendance. UCDA inspires designers working in academia in North America and around the world by delivering relevant programming and benefits in a personal and thoughtful way. The organization provides for the professional and personal growth of its members, and advocates for designer and educators roles within their institution. Dave has served on the UCDA Board of Directors since 2012 and has also organized workshops in Akron, Elyria, and Cincinnati. He is currently director of design at Malone.

Dave also serves on the board of Canton Harbor High School, a non-profit charter school dedicated to serving students in Stark County who struggle in a traditional school setting. The school’s mission is to advance under-served youth through education, job training, personal and leadership development, and community service. The school has been successful in helping many students earn a high school diploma.

Chloe Athena Hollingsworth

{f67c5e3f-547f-4128-b0ba-b2b022cbd9b7}_4A daughter, Chloe Athena, to Ryan (Karp) ’03 and Brian Hollingsworth ’02. Ryan is the Director of Social Media at Grabowski & Co. in Uniontown. Brian is a Major Gifts Officer at Akron Children’s Hospital. The family lives in Uniontown.

Logan Joshua Montague

Logan MontagueA son, Logan Joshua, to Brandon and Jessica (Nevergall) Montague ’05 on August 29, 2015. He joins big brother Tyler. Jessica is the director of Social Services for Good Samaritan Society. The family resides in Findlay.

Joe Scalzo ’00

scalzo-sports-column.jpg&MaxW=315&MaxH=315Recently, Joe Scalzo ’00, joined The Repository sports department after working 14 years at The Vindicator in Youngstown. He has won several awards throughout his career. Joe is the current and four-time Associated Press Ohio Sports Writer of the Year.

Elizabeth Unger ’13

Unger_Elizabeth_AmazonIn summer 2015, Elizabeth Unger ’13 studied evolution and maintenance of biodiversity and the effects of human intervention in the Amazon.  Elizabeth, a temporary wild animal keeper at the Akron Zoo in Akron, Ohio, took the graduate course in pursuit of her master’s degree from Miami University’s Global Field Program.
