Erika (Kurre) Nash ’03

Erika (Kurre) Nash ’03 received a Regional Edward R. Murrow award – perhaps the highest honor you can ever receive as a broadcaster. It recognizes excellence and integrity in journalism that reflects that of the late Edward R. Murrow. The honor is due to a newscast she field anchored about the Antioch church shooting outside of Nashville in September 2017. A gunman opened fire inside killing one woman and injuring several others on Sunday morning in Nashville’s first mass shooting. Fox 17 News spent hours, weeks and months covering every detail of this tragedy beginning with this newscast linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwAnw2o1134&feature=youtu.be She is also an EMMY Award winner and a multi-time winner of numerous Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards, recognizing her as Best Anchor, Best Reporter and Best Investigative Reporter. “I credit Dr. Joseph Bridges with his guidance in the Communication Arts Department knowing my goals were to be a TV News Broadcaster. He has constantly encouraged me throughout my career. Upon my graduation from Malone in 2003, I began working for a CBS affiliate in Alabama, then moved to Nashville, TN to work for Fox 17 News where I have spent the past 11 years of my career.”
