Norman Phillips '67

  Norman Phillips '67, age 82, passed away on December 7th. Norman graduated from Malone with a degree in Social Sciences. He then went on to serve as a pastor for almost 4 decades in churches in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Kentucky. Norman was deeply committed to his faith, and remained involved in the church after retiring from his pastoral work. Norman is survived by his wife, Carmen. Barbara Helmuth '62

  Barbara Helmuth '62, age 82, passed away on December 4th. Barbara attended Malone, where she met her husband, Dale. Barbara was very active in her church community and very committed to her faith in the Lord. Barbara also shared a tremendous love for music, playing both the violin and viola. Barbara is survived by her two children and three grandchildren. Joanne Lehman '96 publishes second novel in Christian book series

  Congratulations to Joanne Lehman '96, on the publishing of the second novel in her Christian trilogy, Susan's Hope. This book comes after the release of Leah's Faith last year, with the third book, Fannie's Love, set to publish next year. The three books explore topics such as growth and forgiveness in a fictional Amish community in Holmes county. Lehman's Mennonite faith deeply influences these stories, as well as her work with the Mental Health and Recovery Board during the 1990s and 2000s. Lehman will also be a part of a book signing featuring several authors at the Gospel Bookstore in Berlin on October 25th from 9am-1pm as well as the Buckeye Book Fair in Wooster on November 1st from 9:30am-4pm. Michael Grant '85 named Associate AD for Championship Resources at University of North Alabama

  Congratulations to Michael Grant '85 on being named the Associate AD for Championship Resources at the University of North Alabama. Michael brings an extensive background in athletics, working as a Division I basketball coach at several places, including Coppin State and Southern. At UNA, Michael will be in charge of fundraising efforts for the athletic department, as well as work closely with the Foundation staff. Michael graduated from Malone in 1985 with a degree in Physical Education. Velma Morris '62

  Velma Morris '62, age 88, passed away on November 6th. Velma was deeply committed to her faith, and the Lord impacted her in many ways throughout her life. Velma graduated with her degree in education from then Malone College, and loved to care for and teach children. She also later worked for the Department of Defense in an administrative capacity. Velma is survived by her 2 children, 3 grandchildren, and soon-to-be great-granddaughter. We send our prayers to the family of Velma during this difficult time, and hope that the peace & comfort of the Lord would surround them.
