  Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Aidan Calderhead!! Aidan '24 and Juliea '24 were married on June 20th of 2025! So happy for these Pioneers and we send our prayers for a lifetime of happiness and growth!

  Welcome to the world Aven James Brownfield! Aven came into the world Tuesday morning (July 29th) at 10:08 am weighing in at 6 lbs. 9.6 oz and measuring 17.5 inches - joined the family and the ranks of future Pioneer.   Mother and son are doing well!!  Join us in welcoming Aven and keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers during this wonderful time of celebration.

David T. Owen III '73

  David Thomas Owen III '73, passed away at the age of 82 on July 28th. David was a member of the United States Air Force for 4 years. David was married to his wife, Denise, for 52 years. Patricia (Pat) Dilling '66

  Patricia (Pat) Ruth Dilling '66 passed away on July 24th, 2025 at her home following a brief illness. Patricia was married to her husband, John, for 72 years. Patricia was heavily involved in the Louisville school system. even becoming the first female principal at Louisville.  Pat was heavily involved in her church and made it a priority to read the Bible every day and pray for those around her. She was also an avid traveler, seeing the beauty of all 50 states. We pray for the family of Pat during this difficult time and celebrate the life she lived. To read the full obituary, click here .

Thomas Ellis '67

  Thomas Ellis '67 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Salem, Ohio. Thomas was a lifelong educator, serving students in several different capacities, including as a professor at Allegheny Wesleyan College. An active member of the Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church, Thomas was deeply embedded in his community of faith and service. He found joy in gardening, camping and planning canoe trips with his beloved family and friends, activities that created lasting memories and strengthened bonds. Ron Tynan Sr. '67

  Ronald (Ron) Tynan Sr. passed away on July 4th, 2025.  Ron aspired to live the American Dream and accomplished just that. A true patriot and self-made man with a relentless work ethic he built a successful career, beautiful home and loving family.  Ron was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Malone College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business and economics. Welcome to the world Augustine (Auggie) Kontur!

  Congratulations to Julia '21 and James '21 Kontur of the arrival of their baby boy, Augustine (Auggie) Kontur! Auggie arrived on June 21st at 10:12 pm! The Pioneer community is praying for continued blessings and grace as you adjust to life with your new little one.

Welcome to the world Haley McManaway!

  Congratulations to Josh '10 and Abby '19 McManaway on the arrival of their baby girl, Haley Taylor McManaway on June 20th as they became a family of 5! Haley came into the world weighing 7 lbs. and was 19 inches long. Welcome to the Pioneer family Haley; the Pioneer community is praying for continued blessings and grace as you adjust to life with your new little one!

Marcy Patton '79 retires after 45 years of service in counseling field

  Marcy Patton '79 retired on June 27th after 45 years of service in the counseling field, most notably serving as the executive director of the Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board. Marcy found joy in fulfillment in making a difference in the lives of those she interacted with during her career.  Marcy is ready for the next season of her life, which will include traveling with her family and continuing to stay involved in her church. Marcy had a special passion for first responder wellness and faith-based collaboratives in her community. We congratulate Marcy on a very successful and impactful career serving her church, community, and world and wish her nothing but the best in this next stage of her life. Judy Doerschuk '74

  Judith Ann Doerschuk,  December 7, 1941 to June 9, 2025, passed away peacefully under the compassionate care of Bethany Nursing Home and Crossroads Hospice.  As a graduate of Osnaburg Township High School, Malone University, and the University of Akron, Judith taught at Plain Local Schools as an elementary and Title I teacher until her retirement in 2003. Judith was an accomplished pianist and was known professionally throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s as “Judy Lane”, playing piano at Mergus, The Pewter Mug, Four Winds and Bender’s restaurants.  We send our prayers to the family of Judy during this difficult time. Alec Mylan '94

  Alec P. Mylan, 83, of Hermitage, previously North Fort Myers, FL, and Poland, OH, passed away Friday morning, June 13, 2025, in his home. Alec  attended Malone College, Canton, OH, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Alec retired from General Motors after 43 years of employment, starting as a clerk in the press room and working his way up to General Supervisor of the press room.  Alec enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, boating, and skiing. He enjoyed watching car racing, especially Tony Stewart, and rooting for the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. We pray for the family of Alec during this difficult time.
