Dan Owolabi '07 has book added to Harvard University curriculum

Dan Owolabi '07 recently found out the good news that his book, Authentic Leadership, was added to the curriculum at Harvard University! In his book, Dan talks about how effective leaders have nothing to hide, nothing to prove, and nothing to lose! He also talks about how authentic leaders are magnetic, confident, and resilient leaders. Dan's book will be utilized in Harvard's Professional & Executive Development program!

A brief synopsis of Authentic Leadership: Most people who start a business, get a promotion, or lead for the first time have a decent grasp of what the actual work of leadership looks like. But what hits them out of nowhere is the pervasive sense of insecurity. It's hard to shake: the feeling that you're not enough, the sense that you suddenly have something to hide, something to prove, or something to lose. Leaders feel insecurity like distance runners feel tired. It's not a question of if runners will feel tired, but when. They know the tired is coming---there's no doubt about it. But when the tired comes, the best runners have a plan for it. They've invested months of physical and mental training in preparation for the exact moment when exhaustion hits. The best leaders are no different. They know insecurity is in their future. They don't like it, and they'd rather avoid it, but they're always prepared for it. Authentic Leadership teaches leaders how to prepare for insecurity.

Dan's book was released in 2020 and was an instant Amazon #1 release. His book has received positive reviews from the former president of Costa Rica and the CEO of Walmart, Doug McMillon, and is utilized in both undergraduate and graduate courses around the world. Be sure to check out Dan's book on Amazon or on his website. Congratulations to Dan!
