Wilbur Amacher Jr. *62

Wilbur F. Amacher, Jr., 97, of North Canton, passed away in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Wilbur served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 until he was honorably discharged. He worked for Plain Local Schools as a 6th grade teacher for many years and then went on to serve as an Elementary Principal at Ransom Barr School for 27 years until his retirement in 1991. Wilbur loved his career in education, especially working as a teacher, and was very grateful for the wonderful staff he had as principal that kept him alert, not knowing what to expect next, which was all in good fun. Wilbur was married to Kathleen Krieg for 44 years before she passed on June 9, 1994. Two of Wilbur’s proudest moments were the births of his and Kathleen’s two sons, Bill and Brett. On November 25, 1995, he married Joyce “Joy” Cuthbertson, and they have enjoyed almost 30 years of marriage together.

Our prayers go out to the Amacher family and all of Wilbur's community during this time. For the full obituary and to view his online memorial, click here

Joelle (Rex) `10 and Craig Carnes `10 Craig and I met at Malone in the Fall of 2005 as freshman members of the Pioneers Marching Band. Yes, we met at BAND CAMP! He was a boy from Cincinnati and I, a girl from Cleveland, from complete opposite ends of the state and here we were meeting in Canton, Ohio. We learned that we had both been at Malone's Scholar's Day event the year before but never saw each other! During our first year at MU we hung out with the same core group of friends all five of us were pretty inseparable. Our time together as a group was spent watching movies or playing games in the Barn, going to Late Night in the cafeteria especially on nugget night, playing ping pong in the lounge of Gurney (PGB) or Froggy's, watching American Idol in dorms, or making trips to Taco Bell. Band and chorale were the major social outlets for both of us and being in such frequent company made it easy to grow fond of each other. We began dating the summer after our freshma...
