2025 Malone Alumni Award winners announced!!

 Malone University has officially announced the 2025 Alumni Award winners and we are delighted to share a little bit about each recipient with you!



Dave Yakley '95: Alumnus of the Year

Dave is a 1995 graduate of Malone with a degree in Communications Comprehensive (now Integrated Language Arts). Dave was heavily involved on campus during his time as a student, as he was a Course Assistant (CA), a member of Chorale and involved with the Aviso. 

Dave also earned his Master's Degree from the University of Baltimore in Publication Design in 1998. Dave has received numerous awards, including the UCDA (University & College Designers Association) Award in 2022 and a multiple time Addy award winner.

Dave is a lifelong member of Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ, and is still heavily involved at Malone, working as the Director of Design, but he has also been an adjunct professor for 25 years. Dave has been a part of multiple service-learning trips to Jamaica and South Dakota, and helps as a scorekeeper for men's and women's basketball.



Megan Mauck '16: Young Alumnus of the Year

Megan is a 2016 graduate of Malone with a degree in Business Administration. Megan served in many ways as a student at Malone, working in Admissions, but also as a Resident Assistant (RA) in Fox, taking part in campus traditions such as Airband and Davenport Derby.

Megan worked in the Alumni Office for seven years, first as an Assistant Director, then becoming the Director of Alumni & Constituent Engagement. Megan is in her 4th year as an adjunct professor at Malone, and helped to lead a student & alumni service learning trip to England. She also helped to bring the Athletic Hall of Fame breakfast to Homecoming weekend.

She is heavily involved at her church, currently serving on the first impressions team and is involved in a life group.




Patricia Sommer '19 '24: Graduate Program Alumnus of the Year

Patricia is a double graduate of Malone, graduating with her Bachelor's degree in Organizational Management and her Master's Degree (MBA) in Business Analytics. Patricia was awarded the outstanding graduate for the MBA program in the 2023-2024 school year, and she was also selected as a member of the Mu Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda.

Patricia works in the Office of the Registrar on campus, where she established and developed improved identification and tracking methods for College Credit Plus students. She also updated FERPA release policies and implemented new technical applications for the university.

Patricia is a member of Mt. Zion Country Church, where her children often serve as acolytes. She spends a majority of her free time at the sporting events or activities of her three sons.



Dr. Eric Lund '91: Pioneer Pinnacle Award

Eric graduated from Malone in 1991 with a degree in Business and Biology, where he was president of the student body and was a writer for the Aviso newspaper. In 1997, Eric founded MedSource, a full-service clinical research organization (CRO), and served as its president for 24 years before selling it to a European company that was looking for an entry point into the U.S. market.  He has more than 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical development industry.

Since selling MedSource, Eric founded Tidewater Ventures – a real estate holdings company-- and is the chairman of the Lund Family Foundation. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Malone Board of Trustees.  

Eric was selected for the Pioneer Pinnacle Award by President Greg Miller. Eric has been a trusted advisor to Dr. Miller, especially in terms of leadership. Eric has worked to connect Malone with individuals that could be difference makers for the university.

Since graduation in 1975, these Malone alumnae have kept in touch and gathered regularly to reminisce and catch up.
