Delaney Ferrell '24 Named Head Coach of Malone Swimming & Diving Programs

We are proud to welcome Malone alumna Delaney Ferrell '24 as the eighth swimming & diving coach in program history. She had previously served as an assistant coach at GlenOak High School and was an Instructional Support Staff member at the elementary school level.

"Having the opportunity to return to Malone is incredibly meaningful to me as an alumna of the program and the University," Delaney mentioned. "My time as a student-athlete at Malone helped to shape who I am both personally and professionally, and I am beyond grateful for the chance to give back to a program and community that had such a lasting impact on my life. As I step into this position, I am looking forward to building meaningful relationships with our student-athletes and continuing to develop a positive, hardworking, and competitive team culture. My goal is to create an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and motivated to reach their full potential in the pool, in the classroom, and in life."

Delaney was a member of the Malone University swimming & diving team from 2019-24. She was a part of the women's team that placed third at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC)/Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championships in 2019-20 and a fourth-place finish in 2020-21. She is a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that is inside the top-five in school history.

We are excited for Delany as she steps into this role, and anticipate a successful season ahead! This post is adapted from the full press release at malonepioneers.com, which you can find here

We learned that we had both been at Malone's Scholar's Day event the year before but never saw each other! During our first year at MU we hung out with the same core group of friends all five of us were pretty inseparable. Our time together as a group was spent watching movies or playing games in the Barn, going to Late Night in the cafeteria especially on nugget night, playing ping pong in the lounge of Gurney (PGB) or Froggy's, watching American Idol in dorms, or making trips to Taco Bell. Band and chorale were the major social outlets for both of us and being in such frequent company made it easy to grow fond of each other. We began dating the summer after our freshma...
