Debbie Marshall '01, M.A. in School Counseling

Debbie Marshall '01 is a guidance counselor at Lake High School in Hartville. Debbie received the 2015 Community Impact Award from the Lake Chamber of Commerce for her leadership in the creation and development of Lake Community Cares, an educational support series created to help families dealing with the crisis of addiction. She has been at Lake Local Schools since 1997 and currently works with Junior & Senior Career Tech/Prep students.  Debbie and her husband, Joe, have two children.

Andrew Calvin Mason & Briana Ruth Mason

Twins, Andrew Calvin and Briana Ruth, to Cindy and Scott Mason ’00 on December 2, 2014. They join a brother, Nathaniel. Scott owns and operates a painting company, and Scott and Cindy are youth leaders at Hillside Baptist Church in Rittman.

Isabel Malone Bort & Ezekiel Nicholas Bort

A daughter, Isabel Malone, on November 12, 2013; and a son, Ezekiel Nicholas, on March 3, 2015, to Mark and Rachel (McFeaters) Bort ’01. Rachel is a high school English teacher. The family lives in Gettysburg, Pa.

Corey Easterday '11

Corey Easterday ’11 and Megan Tomkins on September 26, 2014. Corey is the missional outreach pastor at RiverTree Lake and the director of Current of Ohio. The couple lives in Canton.

Brylee Lynn Rodgers

A daughter, Brylee Lynn, to Jeremy ’07 and Kara (Keener) Rodgers ’07 on February 28, 2015. Brylee joins two big brothers, Bryson and Brexton. Jeremy and Kara both teach for New Philadelphia City Schools. The family lives in New Philadelphia.

Landon Letner

A son, Landon, to Kurt ’04 and Megan (Dodd) Letner ’04, on September 30, 2014. Kurt is a supervisor with Swagelok. Landon joins big sisters Caelyn and Emily. The family lives in Wadsworth.

Everett Jeanette Harris

A daughter, Everett Jeanette, to Joel ’04 and Joy (Moroney) Harris ’13 on December 18, 2014. Joel is executive dreamer for TomTod Ideas. The Harris family lives in Canton. Everett also is welcomed by grandparents, Jean and Jack Harris (Professor of Business, Director of Global Studies) and Sue and Steve Moroney (Professor of Theology.)

Cooper Hall

A son, Cooper, to Todd and Kristen (O’Connor) Hall ’99 on May 11, 2014. He joins a brother, Owen. Kristen is an instructional aide at a middle school in Philadelphia, Pa.

Christina Graw ’11

Christina Graw ’11 works for the International Services Center in Cleveland. She wrote, “My heart was drawn to helping refugees because there seem to be a lot of humanitarian crises going on, and I wanted to help. I kept following all that was going on in Syria, and it literally broke my heart, so I knew I had to help. It all really started when I was at Malone.”

Dustin Grimm '07

Dustin Grimm ’07 was hired at Covance Labs as an LCMS analyst. He is married to Shauna Riedl-Grimm ’07, who recently was promoted to Assistant Manager at Pet People. The couple lives in Indianapolis, IN, with their dogs, Howard and Doug.

Lin McDowell ’96

Lin McDowell ’96 is the weekend morning news anchor and weeknight traffic reporter at Charlotte, N.C.’s powerhouse AM radio station, News/Talk 1110 WBT. Pioneer fans will remember McDowell as a guest announcer for Malone athletic teams. He produced and hosted three different radio talk shows. He also served as a member-at-large of the Malone University Alumni Executive Board.

Levi Miller '68

Levi Miller ’68, alumni board member, keeps a blog of his memoirs at: levimillersignifying.blogspot.com. Miller, a writer and editor, lives in Scottdale, Pa., with his wife, Gloria.

Ruby Gibbons '88

Ruby L. (Rivera) Gibbons was recently hired as Chaplain with Ohio Mental Health & Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) at Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare Psychiatric Hospital in Northfield. Ruby assesses the spiritual needs of patients and provides four Sunday worship services and teaches five Bible studies each week and coordinates Ecumenical services for the hospital. Ruby holds a bachelor of arts degree in Social Work from Malone, a master of science degree in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University, a bachelor of arts degree in Theology from Berean Bible College and a a master of education degree in Christian Counseling from IAUGT. Ruby is a member of the Malone University Social Work Program Professional Advisory Committee. Floyd Allen Fraley '86, '14 MAOL

 

 

Floyd Allen Fraley '86, '14 has been named a Leadership Gift Officer for The Marietta Fund at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. Allen received both a bachelor's degree in communications and a master of arts degree in organizational leadership from Malone. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Canton, serving twice as its president.

Hope Burton '14 is a staff nurse at Akron Children's Hospital in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Hope graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nursing (BSN) and minored in Creative Writing.

A son, Bradan David, to Ryan '01,  '08 and Danielle (Edwards) Hamsher '00 on January 25, 2013. He joins a sister, Allisynn, who is six and in kindergarten. Ryan graduated with a bachelor's in computer science and a master's in business. Danielle graduated with a bachelor's in elementary education.

A daughter, Lillian Faith, to David ’11 and Rachel (Keim) Garwood '13 on January 18, 2015. David is a biomedical imaging technician working in the cancer research wing at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The family lives in Columbus, Ohio.

A daughter, Elizabeth Grace, to Michael '12 and Kayln (Chase) '14 on January 27, 2015. Her proud father works at Malone as an instructional technology specialist.

Alumni Premiere Film at Cleveland Film Festival

"Hotwire the Movie" directed by Erin Brown Thomas '07, written by her husband, Jake Thomas '07 and edited by Brian Steele '06 will premiere at the Cleveland Film Festival on March 25. Erin is a freelance/editor and director. Her work has taken her all over the United States and across the world with such clients as the United States Marine Corp, the J. Walter Thompson ad agency, Interscope Records, Universal Label, Radio Disney, and Nestle. Her documentary "Wildman Athletica" won Best Documentary at the 2014 Canton Film Festival.

Heather May '14 and Michael Wilson on July 19, 2014. Heather is a 7th and 8th grade intervention specialist. The couple lives in Scio, Ohio.

Nicole Bowman '08, '13, MBA

Nicole Bowman is a fixed asset accountant at Shearer's Foods in Massillon. Shearer's Foods is the largest producer of private salty labeled snacks in North America. Previously, she was a fixed asset accountant at Saint-Gobain where she tracked, monitored and managed the fixed asset using Sage Fixed Assets System for seven business units and more than 30 sites in North America. Nicole earned both her B.A. in business administration and M.B.A. from Malone.

Heather Bullach '11

Heather Bullach '11, a portrait and figurative artist, has joined the Massillon Museum staff to orchestrate a traveling exhibition “Imagining a Better World: The Artwork of Nelly Toll." Nelly Toll, author and painter, is a child survivor of the Holocaust. The exhibit debuted at the museum and a recently acquired grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services Museums for America will fund development of the traveling version to premiere at the Goodwin Holocaust Museum and Education Center (Spring Hill, N.J.) in September 2015. Heather earned her bachelor’s degree in art with emphases in painting, drawing and graphic design. She was awarded the Ohio Watercolor Society 2010 Scholarship.

 

Kelly Vrooman '04

Kelly Vrooman '04 is starring in a national Bounty paper towel commercial. Kelly gained national attention when she was cast as the host of the first LIVE program for preschoolers, The Sunny Side Up Show on Sprout and NBC. She is also an experienced improviser, as well as the co-creator and director of the improvised puppet show for grown-ups, “Friends of Alcatraz.”

Marshall Suplee '14

Marshall Suplee '14 has joined Novogradac & Company, a San Francisco-based accounting and consulting firm, as a staff accountant in their Dover, Ohio office. Marshall graduated summa cum laude with a triple major in accounting, business administration and sport management and is working toward his CPA license. He has experience in the accounting industry from his time in the accounting department of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and most recently in another area accounting firm.
