Debra "Deb" Burke '92 appointed treasurer/CFO of Educational Service Center of Western Reserve

The governing body of the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve has unanimously appointed Debra “Deb” (Peters) Burke '92 as the organization’s next treasurer/chief financial officer. Deb currently serves as ESCWR’s chief operating officer and brings more than 20 years of experience in educational leadership. Jennifer Felker, superintendent of ESCWR, said Deb has been an integral part of the school’s leadership team.

“Her knowledge of our organization, combined with her strong operational and financial expertise, makes her exceptionally well-suited for this (new) role. We are excited to have her continue serving ESCWR in this new capacity.”

Debra's professional background includes leadership experience with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and in the private sector, with a foundation in finance, human resources systems and organizational operations. She graduated from Malone University in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting and a minor in Business Administration.

“I am honored to serve in this role and continue supporting the important work of our organization,” Deb said. “I look forward to building on our strong foundation in support of our staff and the districts we serve.”

Our congratulations to Deb on this accomplishment! We are excited to watch as Deb continues to keep Christ's Kingdom First in this new chapter.

Jennifer (Tubaugh) `94 `01 and Jason Bruce  `96 While we were both originally from Ohio, we grew up on opposite sides of the state. At Malone, Steve Styer, a mutual friend, convinced Jason to call me. He was sure we were a match! I had noticed Jason across the cafeteria multiple times, so I was pretty excited to get that call! Our first date was spent hanging out in The Barn chatting the evening away. We were together from that point on! Whenever Steve saw us together, he would say, "Ahhhh my creation!" We've been married for 27 1/2 years and have a beautiful 17 year old daughter. I'm so thankful that Steve gave Jason that little nudge to get things started.
