Grants Secured for TomTod Ideas

TomTod Ideas was recently award grants from three organizations: $8,687 from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation for Grasp. Go. Grow., $2,500 from the Arbonne Foundation for Idea X and a $2,890 grant from Arts in Stark for Artsplorations.  "We are thrilled to receive these grants as they not only fund core pieces of our budget but also affirm the good work that our students, volunteers and staff enact in the community,” said Executive Dreamer Joel Daniel Harris '04. “We look forward to using these building blocks to continue to grow students’ imaginations and ideas.”

Grasp. Go. Grow. is an in-school collaborative that walks students through the ideation process, where students combine research and field trip findings to develop others’ centered ideas. Idea X is six-12 month long experiential mentorship adventure designed to give middle school students the tools they need to make change in the world for good.

TomTod’s newest initiative, Artsplorations, are art exploration workshops where students develop problem solving approaches, brainstorming tools and critical thinking skills. The Arts in Stark grant will help fund four, one day workshops as well as a week-long series during TomTod’s summer camp, the Canton Dreamoratory.

Jennifer (Tubaugh) `94 `01 and Jason Bruce `96

Jennifer (Tubaugh) `94 `01 and Jason Bruce  `96 While we were both originally from Ohio, we grew up on opposite sides of the state. At Malone, Steve Styer, a mutual friend, convinced Jason to call me. He was sure we were a match! I had noticed Jason across the cafeteria multiple times, so I was pretty excited to get that call! Our first date was spent hanging out in The Barn chatting the evening away. We were together from that point on! Whenever Steve saw us together, he would say, "Ahhhh my creation!" We've been married for 27 1/2 years and have a beautiful 17 year old daughter. I'm so thankful that Steve gave Jason that little nudge to get things started.
