Deana (Hagestrom) `90 and Jerry Fresenko `90

Deana (Hagestrom) `90 and Jerry Fresenko `90

My husband, Jerry Fresenko and I both ran cross country at Malone. Our freshmen year we came to campus a week early for cross country camp with our team. I was an 18 year old naive freshman, away from home for the first time, just trying to meet new people. I wasn't feeling well so a senior on the boys team said he was house sitting and they had some medicine if I wanted to come get it with him. Of course I did (remember , naive freshman) and he was really nice about it. As we were walking back to campus we saw Jerry and he remarked, "oh man Fresenko's going to be mad." I said "why" and he said "oh nothing." Well it turns out Fresenko liked me. He asked me on a date the following weekend and we climbed the fence to cross route 62 to go to McKinley theatre. (Yes I realize this was frowned upon but I don't think we can still get in trouble for it, right?) He caught his knee on the fence and ripped his brand new white corduroy pants! We still had a nice time at the movie. We even had our first kiss in the barn. We have been married now for 30 years and have 3 wonderful children, Nick, Zach and Emily. Nick and Zach also graduated from Malone!

Jennifer (Tubaugh) `94 `01 and Jason Bruce  `96 While we were both originally from Ohio, we grew up on opposite sides of the state. At Malone, Steve Styer, a mutual friend, convinced Jason to call me. He was sure we were a match! I had noticed Jason across the cafeteria multiple times, so I was pretty excited to get that call! Our first date was spent hanging out in The Barn chatting the evening away. We were together from that point on! Whenever Steve saw us together, he would say, "Ahhhh my creation!" We've been married for 27 1/2 years and have a beautiful 17 year old daughter. I'm so thankful that Steve gave Jason that little nudge to get things started.
