Debbie (Davis) `88 and John Chopka `89

Debbie (Davis) `88 and John Chopka `89

A year after I transferred to Malone from a college in Iowa, God brought us together. Our love story began in Grinnell, Iowa where we met for the first time at a small church. John was traveling and singing with Potter's Clay the summer of 1986. I drove an hour from my hometown to be see the group sing knowing everyone but John. The director, Mark Deakins and his wife, Sandra, introduced us and the rest is history.  We started dating that fall, I celebrated our engagement with a ring-down in January 1988, and we married (in Iowa) after graduation in June of 1989.  Malone College will always have our hearts as it holds so many of our fondest memories.
