Leah (Haas) `05 and Daniel Shultz `05

Leah (Haas) `05 and Daniel Shultz `05

We first met at "Into the Streets" during Freshman orientation.  We chatted a little bit, but did not really connect at all. A month later, a mutual friend re-introduced us while I (Leah) was hanging out in the quad with some friends.  Dan felt bad for not remembering me, so he squeezed my shoulders, which turned into an hour long shoulder massage and talking together, while all of my friends wondered who the guy was that was rubbing my shoulders.  By the end of the evening, I gave him my phone extension. The next night, Dan took me to Walmart and bought me some milk; we started hanging out regularly after that, and the rest is history.  We got engaged during finals week of our junior year (because Dan knew I wanted a ring down!), and got married the August after we graduated.  Now we've been married 16 1/2 years with 2 kids, and we're so thankful God (and Malone!) brought us together.

Joelle (Rex) `10 and Craig Carnes `10 Craig and I met at Malone in the Fall of 2005 as freshman members of the Pioneers Marching Band. Yes, we met at BAND CAMP! He was a boy from Cincinnati and I, a girl from Cleveland, from complete opposite ends of the state and here we were meeting in Canton, Ohio. We learned that we had both been at Malone's Scholar's Day event the year before but never saw each other! During our first year at MU we hung out with the same core group of friends all five of us were pretty inseparable. Our time together as a group was spent watching movies or playing games in the Barn, going to Late Night in the cafeteria especially on nugget night, playing ping pong in the lounge of Gurney (PGB) or Froggy's, watching American Idol in dorms, or making trips to Taco Bell. Band and chorale were the major social outlets for both of us and being in such frequent company made it easy to grow fond of each other. We began dating the summer after our freshma...
